YOUTH AND COMMUNITY WORKER

Full Time

Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta invites interested individuals to submit their application and CV for the position of Youth and Community Worker on a full-time basis to work within the Community Wellbeing and Development Unit.

 

Role responsibilities

 

This position is focused on prevention through various platforms, where the main aim is to disseminate information and increase awareness about substance abuse and its harmful effects, and also to promote holistic wellbeing amongst the various communities such as youths, families and workplaces. Reporting to the Head of Unit, the incumbent is expected to work in a team to achieve these goals through the following initiatives:

 

  • be responsible for the Focus Programme within church schools and other schools, which involves the planning, coordination and delivery of the programme;
  • organise and deliver parents’ forums to parents of students attending the Focus programme and also to other communities;
  • liaison with the various heads of rehabilitation units within Caritas to organise and provide testimonial sessions within schools and other communities;
  • assist towards the organisation and delivery of prevention sessions within youth groups, community hubs and companies enlisted within the Caritas Employee Assistance Programme;
  • contribute in radio and television slots with the aim of creating awareness and providing prevention and psychosocial skills to the public;
  • assist within Caritas support groups by providing prevention presentations to local and parish communities.

In addition to the above, the Youth and Community Worker shall collaborate with other NGOs and entities to strengthen the existing network and work together towards the provision of collective educational and prevention strategies, and support the unit and the rest of the organisation in any community-related projects undertaken.

 

Required criteria

 

Any persons interested to apply for this position must meet the following criteria:

 

  • be in possession of a degree at MQF level 6 in Youth and Community studies;
  • must have a highly energetic personality with a strong passion for engaging youths;
  • be able to work in a team;
  • must have a strong sense of initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude;
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills in BOTH Maltese and English;
  • be IT literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel applications;
  • be mature with sound moral values;
  • must be committed to work flexible hours that may include evenings;
  • be in possession of a clean driving licence;
  • previous experience working in a school, community environment, or with youths shall be considered as an asset.

FINANCE ASSISTANT

Full Time

Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta is seeking to employ a mature, reliable and energetic Finance Assistant to join its Finance Unit on a full-time basis. 

Role responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Assistant will be responsible to:

  • perform day-to-day book-keeping tasks, including recording of invoices and payments;
  • maintain and reconcile the general ledger, and preparing working documentation as necessary to support the entries;
  • account for cash and bank transactions, effect transfers, make deposits, carry out bank account reconciliations, as well as monitor and reconcile petty cash on a monthly basis;
  • assist with end of month routines and reporting requirements;
  • prepare audit files and assist in the audit process;
  • provide finance-related administrative support;
  • liaise with internal and external stakeholders;
  • carry out any other duties as may be determined from time to time by the Chief Financial Officer.

Required criteria

  • have a minimum of two years working experience in a similar position;
  • be in possession of a recognised qualification at MQF Level 4 or a higher level;
  • be mature, meticulous and have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;

THERAPEUTIC FACILITATOR

Full Time

The Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers (Caritas Malta) invites applications for the role of Therapeutic Facilitator to work on a full-time basis in one of its drug rehabilitation units.

The Therapeutic Facilitator is an essential resource for the rehabilitation program to fulfil its aims towards service users, and the individual shall act as a role model at all times. The selected person shall be responsible to carry out the “tools” of the community and supervise accordingly. Responsibilities include duties related to each individual resident, such as carrying out assessments, formulate treatment plans, conducting individual sessions with residents, accompanying residents for appointments, and taking urine samples. It is also expected that the facilitator carries out duties involving groups of residents, such as facilitate meetings, organize outings, co-facilitate family groups, and liaise with family members of residents as necessary.

The Facilitator is directly accountable to the Head of Unit.

Individuals interested in this role shall meet the following requirements:

  • Be in possession of a degree qualification (MQF level 6) in a social wellbeing subject

OR

Have previous experience in a drug rehabilitation setting with a proven track record, with at least a qualification in Residential and Day Care Work;

  • Possess good interpersonal skills, creativity, and have an energetic personality;
  • Able to work in a team;
  • Be IT literate;
  • Have good verbal and written communication in both Maltese and English;
  • Be prepared to work on a shift basis;
  • Possess a clean driving license;
  • Be mature with sound moral values;

SOCIAL WORKER

Full Time

Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta would like to invite interested individuals to submit their applications for the position of social worker to work on a full-time basis.

Role Responsibilities

The social worker is a key front-line element in the provision of services within the organisation. Forming part of the Counselling and Social Work Unit, the social worker is expected to work with other team members and professionals to meet and address the needs of the target population that the organisation aims to reach. The selected person is expected to conduct assessments of clients who drop-in or phone at the office requesting help, whilst also carry out generic social work interventions with service users depending on their needs, including office sessions, home visits, as well as crisis interventions. In addition to this, the incumbent shall support in the coordination of the various support groups that are provided by the unit, as well as facilitate workshops to the public and hold interventions in the media when necessary.

The social worker is required to uphold social work best practices and values, delivering a professional service aimed at promoting the well-being and dignity of service users. The social worker is directly accountable to the Head of Counselling and Social Work Unit.
